The feudal origins of the Joust
Tournaments were a product of feudalism and chivalry, and are related, as far as the purpose of practicing the military art is concerned, to the warlike games proper to almost all peoples. They were very numerous during the 12th and 13th centuries, in all cities large and small. Of course, even more than the tournaments were numerous the Jousts from the 13th century onward, and so lively and widespread was the love for such festivals, that they wanted to run everywhere.

The Joust
Six knights, one from each sestiere, compete in the spectacular Joust of Quintana. In each “round,” three consecutive assaults to hit the target, the shield attached to the Saracen’s left arm, with the spear.
The Historical Parade
The Quintana Historical Parade transforms Ascoli Piceno into a living fresco of the 15th century: 1,500 figures parade through the streets of the center wearing sumptuous period costumes. The gaze is lost in the beauty of the ladies, the solemnity of the magistrates, the pride of the armed men and the elegance of the knights, making the atmosphere charged with emotion.
The Palio of Flag Wavers & Musicians
Scenic and ancient sporting discipline, the art of the flag. Preparation, talent and passion: the protagonists of the sestieri perform in Arringo Square in the five official specialties. Unique colors, sounds and emotions.
The Palio of the Archers
The archery competition is much more than a competition: it is a living expression of the city’s tradition. The six sestieri compete with rigor and passion, resulting in an event full of charm and meaning.
