The Vassal Castles of the City

The kaleidoscopic historical procession is embellished by the presence of seventeen groups representing the vassal castles of the city of Ascoli. Their history is intertwined with that of the city so much so that already in the ancient Statutes their role is mentioned and the fact that they were required to participate in the Quintana games by offering a banner (Palio). Today their participation in the Quintana is a moment that is certainly not due but authentically felt because the event is not only the heritage of the city but of its entire territory. That is why the Castles are an integral part of it. It must be recognized that their union is an emotionally strong, high-level participation and absolutely integrated into the very body of the Quintana.
