The Historical Parade
A magical and sumptuous leap into the Middle Ages
The elegance of the costumes originates from the portraits of great artists who worked in Ascoli in the 15th century, first and foremost Carlo Crivelli. Some of the dresses bear the signature of some well-known Italian designers such as Pizzi, Guidetti, and Martini. The most famous ones are now kept in the Quintana office in Arringo Square, which can also be visited during the summer period.

A characteristic element that distinguishes the Quintana of Ascoli Piceno in the panorama of all other national and international historical pageants is the historical parade, which boasts the presence of about 1.500 participants.
The advance of the impressive procession is punctuated by the sound of drums and ancient trumpet
Prominent within it are the figures of the Podestà, as well as those of consuls, quartermasters, ladies, damsels, armigers, archers, musicians and flag-wavers. The historical procession is opened by the municipal group, which is immediately followed by the castles and the six sestieri. The latter advance according to the jousting order of the ranking of the last contested edition. The gathering of the figures is scheduled to take place in Ventidio Basso Square. From there, the procession travels through the characteristic streets of the city center, passing through the historic People’s Square, until it reaches the Campo dei Giochi, set up at the “Ferruccio Corradino Squarcia” stadium. There the knights of the six sestieri will compete for the coveted Palio.
